Lead us from Temptation
Temptation is all around us and is in many, man-y forms. It is one of God’s many ways to test us.
Temptation is solely of the Physicals
Temptation only tempt one to one’s
desires of the physicals, like what the devil tried to tempt Jesus with the
physical “kingdoms of the world and their splendor”.
Matthew 4:8 Again, the devil took him
to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their
splendor. 9 "All this I will give you," he said, "if you will
bow down and worship me."
Not only Temptation at work
The evil in one acts on one’s own desires
Why does one say that something
is solely tempting them when in fact it is the desires in one that is active
also.
Matthew 4:2 After fasting forty
days and forty nights, he was hungry.
James 1:14 but each one is tempted
when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed.
Always a way out of Temptation
1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation
has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not
let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also
provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
Recognize Temptation is of the Physicals
Rebuke the physical temptation with the spirit of the mind. When one is tempted, recognize the temptation is of the physical and realize that one’s Spirit is free and able to choose which path to take.
Matthew 26:41 "Watch and pray
so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body
is weak."
Man does not live solely on Physicals
Remind your own Spirit of it’s
real needs.
Matthew 4:4 Jesus answered,
"It is written: `Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that
comes from the mouth of God.' "
Temptation leads to Sin
James 1:15 Then, after desire has
conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth
to death.
Declare to yourself of what you really want
Declare to yourself your own desires and what is not of you will leave you.
Matthew 4:10 Jesus said to him,
"Away from me, Satan! For it is written: `Worship the Lord your God, and
serve him only.' " Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended
him.
God knows the needs of Man
Matthew 6:8 Do not be like them,
for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
Matthew 6:25-27 "Therefore I
tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about
your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the
body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow
or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are
you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single
hour to his life?
Matthew 6:28-34 "And why do
you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not
labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was
dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field,
which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more
clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, `What shall we
eat?' or `What shall we drink?' or `What shall we wear?' For the pagans run
after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But
seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be
given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will
worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
